www.Topgrades.com. is the brainchild of Prasad Vartak, a Maths and Science tutor with over 30 years of teaching experience. Prasad started tutoring in Mumbai, India when he was still in college and founded a 200 student tutoring company, employing around 4 to 5 different specialist tutors. He then moved to the United Kingdom in 2001 and worked in the banking industry for around 10 years. But the love of teaching made him start a small tutoring firm in his garage and he was tutoring around 50 odd students mainly from grammar schools in and around Southend on sea in Essex. He moved to Barcelona, Spain in 2016, mainly for his daughters tennis. He then started tutoring a small group of students mainly from BSB, Castelldefels in a small room at Hotel Canal Olimpic. Today, he tutors around 25-35 students from the British School of Barcelona and also from the British College in Gava and some students who are being home schooled and sitting for their exams as private candidates. He teaches Maths from Year 8 to Year 13 (IGCSE’s, A Levels and IB) and all Sciences from Year 8 to IGCSE´s.
Tutoring is done in small groups of upto 8 students in well ventilated premises of his house which is around 15 minutes walk from the BSB school in Castelldefels. We provide printed notes, lots of printed past papers, access to this website and many free weekend lessons for which there is absolutely no charge. Most lessons are also on zoom. We are very very passionate about teaching and welcome students who want to do well and are willing to put in hard work, time and effort.
Our method of teaching is quite different to what students experience in schools. We actively encourage students to ask their doubts. We encourage them to do so both during the lessons and also when they are at home. Students are encouraged to send their doubts by whatsapp in specially created whatsapp groups so all students can see the doubts and also the solutions. We not only solve Maths and Science doubts during the lessons but also explain to students why a particular method has been used as the students will have to do the thinking during their exams.
The reason behind this website is that all of our students can easily access all the topics so that they can refresh and revise these topics in the comforts of their homes, whenever and wherever they want to revise.
